Resistance and Resilience: Plowshare Prayer

June 9, 2025

All art is a form of resistance. We are living in a multi-chaotic world where all sorts of actions call for resistance: abuse of power, authoritarianism, bigotry, fascism, poverty, racism, nationalism, sexism, etc. I would add that all art is also a form of resilience when we ground ourselves in creating, in birthing beauty, in remembering and honoring who we are, in sharing our gifts with others, in offering hope. That is why I’ve changed the focus of this blog to showcase creative works, in any and all forms, about resistance and resilience.

I am very excited about introducing music as a form of resistance and resilience and am honored to offer “Plowshare Prayer” by singer/songwriter Spencer LaJoye (they/them): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhOZv5i7CHY. When I first heard this song, I cried. I still cry. The plowshare dug deep, the power of the prayer touched me, and I’m sitting with that, allowing the Spirit to lead me to a response.

What about you? What part of this prayer carves itself in your heart?

With gratitude to Spencer LaJoye, with faith in the power of art, and with faith in you,

Rosemary
